Murder in the Lincoln White House

March 4, 1861 – On the day of Abraham Lincoln's inauguration, the air is charged with hope and apprehension. The last thing anyone wants is a hitch in the proceedings – let alone murder. Fortunately, the president has young Adam Quinn by his side.

At the inaugural ball, Lincoln's trusted entourage is on high alert. Allan Pinkerton, head of security, is watchful for assassins, while Lincoln’s longtime friend Joshua Speed and his nephew, Adam Quinn, provide backup. Despite the precautions, a man is found stabbed to death in a nearby room, just yards from the president.

To avoid panic, Lincoln sends Quinn – not the high-profile Pinkerton – to discreetly investigate. Could the murder be a coincidence, or is it a politically motivated act? With his frontier-honed observation skills, Quinn must navigate the complex world of Washington high society and wartime politics to uncover the truth.

With help from Sophie Gates, a determined female journalist, and Dr. Hilton, a free man of colour, Quinn races to solve the mystery and protect the president before the country descends into civil war.
