John was the first Director of the Workplace Learning Research Unit at the University of Calgary, Canada, and has been a member of the editorial board of Leadership, the Journal of Workplace Learning and the Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education. In addition to writing this book, John is author of Japanization at Work: Managerial Studies in the 1990s; co-author of Workplace Learning: A Critical Introduction (2004); co-author of Organizational Leadership (with Keith Grint and Debra Nelson) (2005); co-author of Capitalism and Classical Social Theory (with David Denham) (2019), now in its third edition, editor of Organizational Leadership (2020) and author of Work and Organizational Behaviour (2021), now in its fourth edition.
